A Writeup-From one woman to another

Yet another year and we hit 8th MARCH-INTERNATIONAL WOMAN’S DAY.  This day is observed to celebrate the women achievers in various fields across the globe devoid of economic, cultural background, religion, race, or nationality. Initially, it kicked off in 1909 in US from a labour movement in North America wherein the women workers protested against the working conditions.
From then on, it emerged from being from just fighting for working conditions to considering and working for women rights across the globe for various reasons. This day is also known as United Nations day for women rights and International peace.

Women and peace on the same day? I have this kind of reaction as I’ve usually heard that women are non peace makers. Wars are fought because of a Woman. Families are fallen apart because of the Woman. The Epic Ramayana and the Mahabharata happened because of a Woman. Let’s have a look at these events known in Hindu Mythology.

Had Sita-in Ramayana not been abducted by Ravana, then, there would not been so many events happened after the abduction. Rama wouldn’t have fought Ravana. The Golden Lanka would still have had its beauty.
Had Draupadi not been insulted in the Courtroom and ripped off her clothes (she was saved from being dishonoured by the Lord Krishna), the Pandavas wouldn’t have gone into exile and the great Mahabharata war wouldn’t happen.

BUT, HOLD ON!!!! Let’s rethink on it. Had The Ramayana not happened, Ravana who was a great warrior but submerged in his pride would rule and cause more destruction. Good over evil would not happen. Had Mahabharatha not happened, Lord Krishna would not have recited the Bhagavad Gita-book of wisdom to Arjuna-that shows the way of life-The path to eternal bliss. Again, the fall of the evil would not take place. The lessons would not be learnt. The Era would not come to an end for the next era to be born. The generations wouldn’t grow and be born more enlightened, thoughtful, bright, intelligent and courageous.

In a way, a Woman has been responsible to bring out the good and a reason for the good to take over the evil which, in turn prevailed peace in that era. Isn’t it right to say that women in the long run are peace makers?

We have come a long way from these mythological eras and women are doing well. They are giving a tough competition to the men in all fields of life. We also have a day for ourselves to celebrate.
This makes me think..Should this be celebrated only to recognize the achievers? Shouldn’t it be observed as a day to celebrate the Spirit of a Woman? The spirit of braveness, the fighter, the saint, the tough one, the softer and the tender one, the mightier one, “never give up” attitude one, the healer one, the pain enduring one, the childlike one, the intellect one, the peace maker one and the ever smiling and welcoming one?

For me, this day is for all women. From the least empowered one to the most empowered one. It is the day wherein from a maid who works relentlessly to keep someone’s house tidy, to a governess taking care of a baby, the cook who toils in the kitchen, the daily wager, the vegetable seller, the Woman selling flowers, the rag picker, the sweeper, the care taker , women driver etc. In short, it should be for all women who achieve for themselves and for others in their daily lives. This day, is a day to return gestures for the women who does so much but receive nothing in return, a day to make someone feel that “we care”. A day to support and stand by one another in good and tough times.

So, CHEERS!!! To the spirit of “BEING YOU”.  Applauds to the ones who makes others lives beautiful, the surroundings serene and clean, the ones who live for others more than herself, ones who toils day and night to make things work, the ones who have made it in their careers, the ones who have won their battles and fighting their battles, who have made their homes a wonderful place to live in, the ones who have raised children successfully, the ones being sane and managing the dual responsibility of home and career, the ones who have found their identity and the ones who have inspired all by following their heart and taking a complete different path in life. Above all to the ones who have supported and been there for one another silently and selflessly.

Let’s LIVE UP the WOMAN WAY and the WOMAN STYLE. Wishing all “A HAPPY WOMAN’S DAY”

It was just another dull, ordinary day.. a more or less a routine.. where one is programmed oneself and knows which task precedes the other… On such days we often feel there would be something exciting happening in our lives..  at least for a few minute. Maybe this was the day…. I stepped into office thinking the tasks to be completed and anticipating more tasks that would be piled up for that day…. Everything seemed normal as always…people greeted each other in between work. Some working seriously and while some were on a short break as they had arrived before our batch started working.. in shifts(night). no one knew what was in store ahead of us…we were planning the day’s work…I, as usual, switched on my PC and logged in. checked my inbox for a few new emails…. It was passed 1:00 a.m in the morning where one lives like they are on the other side of the globe. It was later then that I resumed my work…Was doing some updating of the work done before when the writer struc

The Transformation!

A couple of months back (somewhere around Nov-Dec-2019), I received a call for a job opportunity. While I went on to explain the kind of profile I was looking for, and my preferences as a candidate, I was snapped at saying” you will never get a job in a Corporate, especially if you want to work remote”. The person went on to say “if I had to receive a profile like yours, I would have trashed it in the bin and not looked at it in the first place. As someone, wanting to work remotely and willing to telecommute to the office on need basis is not happening and no one would want to hire.” While I was trying to put my point across, saying” I understand what you are saying, but this is what I am looking at”, the hiring person went on and asked me to look at an alternative and shovel my aspirations of a remote-regular job. I was baffled for by this conversation. Moreover, being a part of the HR fraternity for more than 15+ years, this entire episode made me think on vario

We all Matter!!!

Well, a philosophy or should I call it a norm where all jobs either physical or intellectual is treated equal. There is no discrimination about the nature of job, the position held at work. An employee experiences a sense of self worth, valued, appreciated and belongingness towards the Company only when respected and valued.  A thought process that exists from decades, spoken, debated but practised by a very few. We still need to get to the point of understanding it. Many of us do not realise various non-favorable situations that happens in our daily lives personally or at work. Maybe, we are still slaves in our subconcious, we are nurtured in a particular system. With changing times, we are trying to fit in the change but deep down we are what we always used to be! The old school, superior, inferior barracades bind us. Somewhere, as a culture, as an individual we are failing, falling apart. Think about it! Coming back to dignity at work, is not only about respecting other
